Boiler cleaning

Of course, someone will say: "Why do it yourself, in any newspaper of free announcements of such offers - a dime a dozen." But the price of this is not always loyal, and there is no need to adapt to someone else's work schedule. And then, the rule "if you want someone to do it well - do it yourself" has not been canceled yet. Therefore, today we will clean the electric water heater (or the boiler, to whom which name is most appealing) themselves. Moreover, it takes all of this for half an hour, and you need a minimum of tools.
By the way, the tools themselves. We will need:
• adjustable wrench. Flexible hose nuts often differ in one to two sizes, so it will be easier and more reliable.
• socket heads with ratchet or keys M12, M13 and M14. The sizes of different models of boilers may vary, so it is better to anticipate and prepare them "in reserve".
• Phillips and flat head screwdrivers.
• card brush.
That's all, we start disassembling.

But even before you start disconnecting the hoses, turn off the electricity coming into the boiler and turn off the cold water tap that goes into it.

Open the hot water in the mixer. So the extra pressure will be relieved and you will have less chance to pour, lowering the boiler. And this is the longest part of the process, but more on that below.
Now turn off the hot water tap leading from the boiler.

Remove the decorative cover. For this, most likely, a Phillips screwdriver will come in handy. Disconnect the ground and simply remove the thermostat with a long thin temperature sensor.

The boiler is now “naked”, but there is still water in it. She needs to be lowered. We turn off the hoses so that you remove the bypass valve (or some models have a lever that you need to press on and it ceases to fulfill its function that blocks the water outlet from the cold boiler pipe),

and drain the water. Caution, it can be hot if you have not previously turned off the boiler and did not lower the boiling water from it. Water comes out by gravity, so get ready 12 ... 15 minutes (standard boiler for 80 liters) just hold the hoses.

Now unscrew the bolts holding the bottom cover, and substituting a capacious basin, pry it with a flat screwdriver. What will fall out of the boiler will greatly surprise you and will not please you at all.

We clean the ten well (this is where the card brush comes in handy),

and all that scum (do not forget to put your hand into the boiler itself, there is a lot left), throw it into the garbage chute. But in no case not in the toilet, otherwise it will simply clog.

Magnesium Anode Any boiler is arranged in such a way that it is a “sacrificial game” and during operation it becomes less and less and gradually burns out completely. Therefore, if so, it needs to be replaced (a new one costs $ 2 ... 3), although it is often worth just cleaning the old one. And although the thread is standard for everyone, it is better to take the rest of it when going to the store. So if you are cleaning the boiler for the first time, it is better to do it during the hours when the corresponding shops or markets are working.

We screw it instead of the old one,

and put the cover in place.

We collect all the hoses in the reverse order, but for sealing it is better to use Teflon, or as it is also called fum tape.

We put back the bypass valve, flexible hoses,

we insert a temperature sensor with a heating temperature controller and close everything with a decorative cover. The boiler is assembled, but now it is empty.

Re-open the hot water in the mixer,

and open both cranes to and from the boiler.

When the water from the mixer spills again, close it. The boiler is full.

Now we include it in the network so that the water in it is heated to the desired temperature. This is slightly longer than the boiler usually heats up, since you lowered it "to zero", and the temperature of cold water is far from the usual one.

That's all wisdom. And now you yourself will be able to evaluate how much faster the water is heated. And there’s no need to talk about energy saving, you will immediately feel it according to the "thinner" monthly receipts for light.
