Finally, I managed to pick up an empty 200-liter barrel, which I had been waiting for a long time. However, the wait did not become a reason for rejecting the idea of making your own barbecue grill.
Barrel preparation

Firstly, I had to clean it of the remnants of the product that was in it (honey) and wash it from the inside (it doesn’t look very good in the photo). After that, using an angle grinder, I made a cutout in it.
It is much more pleasant to work with a container for food products. Imagine a grill in a barrel that was used for oil or fuel.

Rack construction

I needed to make a foundation, and around me there were only a few old columns from the fencing from the Rabits grid, which I still had no time to throw out, and pieces of used plywood.
I cut the columns as follows: 2 along the length of the barrel and 4 for the legs. I wanted my grill to take up less space, so the best thing was to place the barrel on top of the stand. Two columns are designed to hold the barrel, and 4 legs are attached to them through the holes using bolts with a semicircular head. To make the legs more secure, I made a plywood screed. Now you can put the barrel on top so that it stands high and proud.

Cover and grill

I added brackets that will hold the grilles, and will not let the lid fall inward. I also put the bottom shelf on which you can lay coal.
Brackets and hinges must be used stainless. If the parts are galvanized, then they need to be burned to get rid of odors that would remain with a few more preparations.

Firing internal parts

Inside the barrel, I lit a fire so that all the paint or something else was burned out.

Finishing touches

The finishing touches were the addition of a handle (from a simple round handle from a hardware store), air vents and a temperature meter. I also decided to apply a paint coat to the barrel for high temperatures. Besides the fact that you can choose a color, the paint prevents metal corrosion. The final touch was the actual use of a barbecue grill.
