In this review, the author shares his personal experience on how to make a simple “hat” with your own hands to protect a concrete pillar from precipitation.

It is not only budgetary, but also simple. If you want to make a cap for a pillar, everyone can.

The first thing, of course, is to assemble a mold for pouring concrete. To do this, the author uses four bars, sawn to the desired size.

After this, it is necessary to mix the solution of river sand, cement and tile glue. Additionally, the author adds fiberglass and liquid soap.

The manufacturing process of concrete pillars themselves and their decoration under wild stone, you can read in the articles on our website:

The main stages of work

The prepared solution is laid in a mold and compacted with a trowel, patting it on the surface. The solution must be very well compacted so that it does not "float" when stripping.

In the central part of the “cap”, the author makes a small hump so that there is a slight bias. Thus, during rain, water will drain from the cap without turning into a puddle.

When the solution sets a little, we perform the stripping - carefully remove the form. And we wait until the solution gains strength sufficient for mounting the "cap" on a concrete pillar.
