Even if you are not seriously engaged in blacksmithing, a small anvil in the home workshop or garage will definitely not be superfluous. So let's do it with our own hands.

The most common material for the manufacture of such small anvils is a suitable piece of rail. You can get it at the scrap metal collection point.

For the manufacture of anvil from the rail you will need a angle grinder (grinder), as well as cutting and grinding wheels for it. First of all, we do the marking, after which we cut off everything unnecessary from the rail.

Immediately, as they say, without departing from the cash register, you can remove bumps and burrs with the help of a cleaning circle. Although, you can do this later.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, in the upper part of the railway rail, we cut out a triangular "wedge", from which we then form the anvil horn. At the same time, you can polish the entire upper platform.

Next, it will be necessary to trim the sole of the railway rail on the sides, so that in the end we get four “paws”. At this, the manufacturing process of the "home" anvil can be considered complete.

In the end, it remains only to sand the entire surface and paint. For details on how to make a small anvil from a piece of rail with your own hands, see this video.
