Today on the Internet you can order nozzles for chopping firewood, which are used in conjunction with an electric drill or hammer. However, why spend money when the same nozzle can be made with your own hands?

To make a splitting head for splitting firewood, you will need a steel round log with a diameter of about 30 mm, as well as a shank from a broken drill for a perforator.

Please note that for the manufacture of this nozzle you need access to a lathe (well, or in extreme cases, you can contact a familiar lathe).

The main stages of work

We clamp the steel round into the chuck of the lathe, after which we grind one edge onto the cone.

The next step is to thread the cone. The author also performs this operation on a lathe using a back cutter.

Next, it will be necessary to drill a hole in the nozzle from the back to insert and weld the shank under the perforator cartridge. It is better, of course, to use not a segment from a broken drill, but a special adapter - it will be more reliable.

After welding, it will be necessary to clean the welds. And then we put the cone in the cartridge of a puncher or drill, and you can proceed to chop wood.
