The time comes, and the factory tire from an electric or chainsaw becomes worthless. But you can give her a new life. For example, an old tire can be a good knife (cleaver) for household needs in a garage or in the country.

For work, you will need an old tire, a small wooden bar, several metal studs, a band saw (or a jigsaw), a angle grinder (grinder), a grinding machine, a drill, sandpaper, a rasp, drawing tools, an impregnating oil, epoxy resin (or wood glue) and any spray paint.

Mark the future trailer and the shape of the blade on the tire. We cut off all excess metal with the help of angle grinders. After that, mark the upper part of the blade in the form of a rare-toothed saw.

The main stages of work

On the emery wheel, the master sharpenes the future product. For convenience, you can clamp the workpiece between two planks. Sharpening is made on one side of the blade. After rough grinding, the master performs a more thorough grinding on the stone.

Next, proceed to the manufacture of the handle. After pre-drilling holes in the trailer, apply it to the bar and mark its shape. We finish the shape of the future handle. We saw the bar along to the depth of the trailer and to its thickness.

After that, we drill through holes. Insert the blade into the handle. We reduce the holes in the workpiece and handle. We insert the studs, and on the anvil we rivet them on both sides until the caps form.

At the next stage, we proceed to grinding and shaping the handle. Roughly set the shape of the butt of the handle, giving it the shape of a semicircle. Sandpaper with sandpaper and get the final shape.

Places where there were any holes in the bar can be filled with glue and covered with fine chips remaining after grinding. Cover with oil and varnish. Homemade knife is ready.
