To make a do-it-yourself home-made tool for faster and more convenient soldering of aluminum, you will need affordable and inexpensive materials. First of all, you need to find a metal tip from a scrap metal or purchase in a radio store a soldering iron tip with a diameter of 85 mm.

First, a hole of 2 mm in diameter must be drilled at a distance of about 8-9 mm from the edge of the soldering iron tip. Please note that when drilling, it is imperative to use grease so that the metal drill does not overheat, since copper is a very viscous and "capricious" material.

The main stages of work

Using an angle grinder, it will be necessary to cut a length of approximately 13-15 mm from the hacksaw blade. Then it is necessary to carry out the tempering of the metal web in order to facilitate its subsequent machining.

Next, in the copper tip of the soldering iron we make a slot with a depth of 10 mm, and also bend it at a right angle. In the section of the saw blade, we drill a hole with a drill with a diameter of 3 mm - thanks to the made vacation, the hole is drilled without problems.

At the next stage of work, you need to tin the edge of the hacksaw blade and fasten it to the sting. Then we install the "updated" copper or brass sting in a soldering iron - in its usual place.

Using such a homemade tool, you can solder aluminum without the use of special fluxes. For more information about using this device at home, see the video on the site.
