In order to process, cut or strip away a steel round pipe from rust, it must first be securely fastened. In a normal vice, this is problematic, since the pipe will constantly turn and shift down, which will complicate its processing. Therefore, for a more reliable fixation, it is better to use a special clamp, which is easy to do with your own hands.

For the manufacture of this device, pieces of steel strip, a corner, a stud, bolts with nuts, a washer, a piece of a round tube and a square profile will be required. For work, you will need a grinder, an electric drill (or better - a drilling machine), an emery or belt sander and a welding machine.

Step-by-step process for making a homemade clamp

Four pieces with a length of 20 cm must be cut from a steel strip. Then we make the marking, core and drill holes. The edges of the workpieces are slightly rounded on an emery or file. We mark all four plates, after which we cut out the triangular wedge in the lower part in the center.

You will also need another piece of steel strip, in which you need to drill five holes at the same distance from each other. Using a grinder, a longitudinal cut is made in the hairpin, into which a metal washer is inserted and tacked by welding.

After this, the plates are welded to the corners, and in one of the resulting clamp parts, a piece of pipe must be welded between the plates. At the last stage of work, the remaining structural elements are fastened with bolts and nuts. The result is an easy-to-use home-made clamp for fixing round pipes.
