If you often have to work outside the workshop, where it is not possible to use a standard vise or clamps to fix the workpieces in the right position, then simple but very convenient mini-vices are useful in this case.

They can always be taken with you to the place of work and used as intended if necessary. For this homemade product the following materials will be required: a steel plate with a thickness of 7-8 mm, two pieces of a square 20x20 mm, two trim corners for the guide and a profile 20x20 mm square section.

Tool manufacturing process

First of all, in the movable element from the profile pipe, it is necessary to cut a small "window" for the nut into which the stud will be screwed. We cut the hole necessary for the size with the help of a grinder, and then weld the nut.

The remaining parts of the structure must be sanded to remove rust, and slightly grinded with the same grinding disc. On sections of a steel square bar, on one side, you need to make oblique notches, after which you can proceed directly to the assembly process of mini-vices.

How to assemble a "mobile" mini vise

First, a fixed sponge is welded to the base. Then the second sponge from the square is brought close to it and clamped with a clamp. To it in the middle it is necessary to weld a square profile pipe 20x20 mm with a nut inside, after grabbing two guides from the corners. A lid is welded on top of the guides from a piece of strip.

At the last stage, it remains only to weld a stud with a retaining bar and strip the grinder vise. You can see the detailed process of making home-made mini-vise for street work in the video on the website.
