Such an interesting and modern watch design is definitely not found in the store. Simple construction made from affordable materials. If your guests see this watch with you, they will definitely pay attention to it, and certainly will not tell you that they saw the same in a nearby store.
The materials I took for the watch:
  • Wooden board 35 x 35 cm, 18 mm thick (hardware store).
  • A piece of plywood 3 mm thick (hardware store).
  • 13 mm long nails or self-tapping screws.
  • Clockwork (can be taken from boring watches).
  • Yellow paint.
  • Black marker.

The wood tools I used are:
  • Hand saw.
  • Screwdriver drill.
  • Hammer.
  • Pliers.
  • Ruler.
  • Ruler with a right angle.
  • Bit.
  • Sandpaper.

Sawing a board.

We take our board and determine the size of future hours. We draw and saw off the base with a hacksaw or a hand saw. An 18 mm board is sawn well and it is advisable to use a saw with small teeth so that the edges are even and require minimal machining after sawing.

Making squares

Next, at one of the corners of the base, I drew 10 x 5 cm rectangles. We drank them a step. Then I already cut these rectangles into 5 x 5 cm squares.
Now you need to polish all the squares by removing the burrs and making the surface smooth.

We proceed to milling the holes for the clock mechanism.
We take the clock mechanism and apply it to the center of our base. Circle with a pencil. Next, we mill the recess. I used a wood milling cutter fixed in a screwdriver. You can use the chisel and went through a recess with it.
During operation, we try on a recess to the mechanism. If everything is normal in the konk, we drill a hole for the shaft exit, on which the arrows will dress. After all the work done, we will sandpaper the base so that it becomes smooth.

Watch assembly

Before proceeding directly to the watch assembly, you must first prepare 18 small jumpers - connectors. Take a piece of plywood and use a hacksaw to file 18 jumpers 0.7 x 4 cm.
We place the base, lay out our squares almost in a chaotic order. It is necessary to arrange the squares so that the plywood jumpers are practically invisible. On the reverse side, respectively, we connect everything with jumpers and nails.

Clock painting

For painting, I used spray paint from a spray can. We hold the balloon at a distance of 20 cm and spray it onto the watch, on the one hand. After a little while, and the paint dries very quickly, turn the clock over and spray the paint on the second side. Everything, the foundation is almost ready.

Draw numbers

I took a black permanent marker and simply painted numbers. There is another option - print the numbers on a computer, cut and paste. So you can do it if you want.

Watch hanger

I screwed 2 screws so that there was something to hang the clock on. And I tied a rope to the screws so that it could be hung on a nail in the wall or a screw.

Mechanism installation

Set the clock mechanism to the base. Fasten with a nut and dress arrows. We insert the battery - we check the performance.

If it works, we hang it on the wall.

Looks great, doesn't it? It looks especially creative in a modern interior.
