Solid state relays appeared on the market relatively recently and have already confidently conquered the electronics market. It is understandable, I will give the main advantages.
- - Performance.
- - Voltage isolation.
- - Silent compared to a conventional relay.
- - Zero crossing detector.
There are much more pluses, I brought only a few.
A solid state relay, in fact, except for the name, has nothing to do with the mechanical relay that everyone usually represents when they hear this name for the first time. This is a common triac key, with control and isolation circuits.
This miracle costs absolutely inexpensively and it can be easily bought on our beloved aliexpress.com
Link to a solid state relay.
There are many different types of relays on the radio market: small and large, powerful and low-power. I took this:
Firstly, it has screw terminals for connection. Secondly, it can switch the load with a voltage of 24-380 V and a current of up to 60 A. Of course, I took it with exhaustive search for other purposes. To control the garland, it is enough to take from 2 A. Thirdly, the control voltage is from 3 to 32 volts, pulse. This is what we need, since we will control the relay directly with the sound supplied from the output of the low-frequency amplifier.
Light Music Scheme
A solid-state relay is included in the open circuit of the lamp or garland. And the sound from the speaker is fed to the input of the solid-state relay. The scheme is nowhere simpler. The main thing is not to confuse the conclusions. Now, as soon as the music in the column starts playing, the garland immediately starts flashing to the beat of the music.
The output from the amplifier is taken from any channel, left or right. You can connect between the outputs so that the garland blinks with a stereo effect. If there is an output to the subwoofer, you can connect to it. And you can take two garlands and two relays and connect to different channels. A lot of options, choose any one you like.
I added a toggle switch park to the circuit for switching. The first toggle switch on the diagram so that you can simply turn on the garland in normal mode. And the second is to turn off the influence of music on her.
Thanks to galvanic isolation, the high mains voltage is reliably isolated and will not cross the speaker and amplifier.
I took a plastic container, put the sockets there, to connect the load. I made holes for the toggle switches and connected the entire system.
The load was the LED garland on the Christmas tree. Immediately connected to the column, which stood by the tree.
The result was very cool, watch the video of work:
