Tinted car windows with the help of special films has only one advantage - low cost. After a few years, it completely loses its original properties. The appearance of the car is deteriorating, removing the film is not a problem, difficulties appear after trying to remove traces of glue. White spirit, gasoline, acetone and other known solvents do not help.

What to prepare

The glass is wetted with a soap solution using any household spray gun. To seal the windows, you can use paper or newspapers, glue is removed with an old plastic card.

Glass Clean Technology

Wet the car window with soapy water over the entire area. Do not leave blanks. Do not be afraid that liquid will enter the seals. The mechanisms of tearing / burying and lifting windows from a small amount of moisture will not deteriorate.

While the glass is wet, cover it with pieces of newspapers and again wet them with soapy water. Paper is needed so that the glass remains wet for a long period of time, soap should corrode glue for at least 10-20 minutes.

As the newspapers dry out, spray them again with a spray bottle. After exposure, remove the newspapers. You can do this with your hands.

Using a plastic card edge, carefully scrape off soft glue. It is not recommended to use a metal spatula. Although it is difficult to scratch the surface of the glass, it is likely that microscopic abrasive particles (grains of sand or dust) will get between it and the window. And from them traces will certainly appear.

If there are areas with hard glue, then repeat the soaking process. Never attempt to remove them with metal tools. You do not need to save time; replacing damaged glass will cost much more.
At the finishing stage, wipe the window with a special cloth and remove the remaining soap. If you need to, then pre-moisten the cloth with clean water or any glass cleaner.

Conclusion

This method has shown its effectiveness not only when removing glue from tinting auto glass. Many for the winter insulate single-chamber plastic windows with heat-shrink film, it is glued along the perimeter of the sash with double-sided tape. It is very difficult to remove it by conventional methods, and a soap solution greatly facilitates the cleaning process.
