Laying laminate flooring is easy. You can cope even alone and without work experience. The main thing is to do everything carefully, without departing from technology.

In this review, the author tells in detail and shows how to lay the laminate flooring in the room yourself.

If you are going to make repairs in the apartment or house on your own, then this information will definitely not be superfluous.

What tools should be at hand

Before you start laying the laminate, you need to prepare all the tools and accessories that you will need in the process.

The main list of tools:

  • stationery knife (for trimming the substrate);
  • manual hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • square;
  • pencil;
  • roulette.

In addition, you will need a special kit designed for laying laminate flooring (you can buy it at any hardware store) to knock out lamellas, and a mallet with a rubber hammer.

Foundation preparation

The preparation of the base for the laminate must be approached very responsibly - it must be perfectly even. In other words, no bumps or grooves are allowed.

If the floor surface is uneven, then it must first be leveled with a screed.

The main stages of work

First of all, the substrate is laid. Then one row of laminate is laid (we start from the wall and from the window towards the threshold). Immediately put a mark in which place you need to cut the lamella near the threshold.

There are locks on the laminate (on both sides of the board, as well as at the ends) - on one side the lock is longer, on the other - a little shorter.

The laminate is laid against the wall on the side where there is a short lock.

After fitting and trimming, you can proceed with laying the laminate. We lay in a checkerboard pattern so that there is a dressing, as on a brick wall.

From unnecessary scraps of laminate, plywood, board or other suitable material, it is necessary to saw small pieces of 8 mm thickness.

They are installed between the laminate and the wall, and are needed in order to provide a compensation gap.

It is necessary to make this gap, since the laminate has the property of expanding and narrowing due to differences in humidity in the room.

After laying the first row, we begin laying the second. It should be started not with a whole board, but with a piece 40-50 cm long, and then alternate subsequent rows in a checkerboard pattern.

And in this way, all the rows of laminate are laid in the room. Do not forget to use devices to knock out lamellas when they are inserted into each other.
