When it is necessary to connect two wooden pieces (boards, bars, etc.) end-to-end at a right angle, you can use a simple, reliable and time-tested method of connection - on dowels.
To connect the two workpieces in this way, you will first need to make a special device - the conductor or template is also called. How to make this device, read here.
The first step is to cut off two blanks (in this case, these are two pieces of the board) at an angle of 45 degrees. This can be done on the end saw or in a special carpentry fixture, better known as a miter box.
The main stages of work
At the next stage, we draw lines in the center of the slice, after which we combine it with the line on the conductor. And we drill in both blanks two end holes with an electric drill.
Then we insert wooden dowels of the desired diameter into one of the blanks, and we join it with the second blank. First we do it “dry” to check if everything is working fine, and then we “sit” the dowels on the glue (joiner's PVA).
In detail about how the workpieces are connected using dowels, as well as how to make a jig, we recommend that you watch in this video.
