In a conventional bench vise, clamping round metal pipes is inconvenient. The workpiece is constantly turned (for example, if it is necessary to unscrew the plug or sleeve), and also moves down if you press on it from above.

Therefore, the author offers an alternative option - to make a small platform with a vertical clamp. Using this tool, it will be much easier to process round pipes.

In addition, it is worth noting that with the help of this home-made design, you can perform other operations - for example, you can press the bearing into the seat.

Homemade manufacturing process

First of all, it will be necessary to cut off a piece of a square profile pipe of suitable length with a grinder (this will be a rack). At the ends of the pipe, the master welds the steel plates.

In the bottom plate, mounting holes must be drilled, in the top one large hole, on top of which a large stud nut is welded.

Then, from a piece of metal, the author cuts out a rectangular plate in which he drills holes and cuts threads in them. This will be the basis of homemade. To it you need to fasten the rack from the pipe to the bolts.

At the next stage, it will be necessary to cut off two pieces of the metal plate, make a triangular cut in them, at the edges of which, using the grinder, select the “steps” for better fixation of the workpiece. These plates are welded to the base.

After that, it remains only to make a clamping “nickle” for pipes and put it on a stud (or a long bolt). All details must be sanded and then painted. Homemade is ready!
