The old metal file is perhaps the most affordable material for making a knife. Moreover, to make a knife out of a file, it will take quite a bit of time. Please note that in this case, the author uses a flat file.

First of all, you need to draw a template for the future knife on a piece of paper, and then transfer it to a file. Next, with the help of a grinder and a cutting wheel, we cut out the blank for the knife.

At the next stage, the author sets the flap grinding wheel on the grinder and processes the workpiece from two sides.

Step-by-step knife making process

The descent of the blade is done on only one side. The author performs this operation on the grinder. Then you need to drill a hole in the rear of the workpiece. First, the file must be heated to red, and then cooled in air.

Next, you will need to grind all sharp corners and sharpen the blade itself. Now it remains only to make a beautiful decorative "braid" for the handle, so that it is convenient to hold it in your hands.

For this, the author uses a polymer cord (paracord) with a diameter of 4 mm. The cord is notable for the fact that it does not rot at all and is not damaged by mold.
