To reduce the temperature of a direct chimney (when heating a room or a greenhouse in winter), you can install an air tubular heat exchanger on it.

It is used as a convector. You can make a heat exchanger with your own hands from furniture pipes with a diameter of 25 mm.

First of all, the ends of the pipes will need to be cut at an angle of 45 degrees. At a distance of 10 cm from the edges, the author drills holes in the pipes. For all these manipulations, it is convenient to use a home-made holder for round pipes.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the author proceeds to the manufacture of a carrier tape, to which pipes will be fastened with rivets. The basis is a metal tape 0.5 mm thick.

At the ends of the strips then brackets will be attached. In the strip of tape itself, it will be necessary to drill holes for the rivets in 32 mm increments. The author performs this operation on a drilling machine.

Next, to the strips of a metal tape 600 mm long (in your case, the length may be different, depending on the diameter of the chimney), you need to attach pipes to the rivets.

The finished heat exchanger is wrapped around the chimney, and the ends of the strips on which the brackets are located must be bolted together.
