To hold different workpieces (fittings, strips, rods, bolts, etc.) during the forging work, the master recommends using homemade tongs. To make them, you will need old metal scissors.

If there are no old scissors for cutting sheet metal, then you can cheaply buy Chinese scissors. It does not make sense to use them for their intended purpose, since they are of very poor quality.

The first step will be to work a little grinder (angle grinder) - you need to grind off part of the upper and lower working scissors. As a result, it should turn out as in the photo below.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the author cuts the workpiece from a piece of metal with a thickness of 2-3 mm - two rectangular plates are needed for some scissors. In this case, the author cut off six blanks. On one side you need to make notches.

Then we give the plates the desired shape: flat, triangular and semicircular. We weld sponges to working sheets of scissors for metal. For a more aesthetic look, it is necessary to clean the welds with a grinder.
