In this review, the author decided to make simple carpentry vice in the home workshop from old shock absorbers from the car. From the tool you will need a grinder and a welding machine.

For this homemade product you will need two shock absorbers. First you need to disassemble them and remove the rods, which the master will use as guides.

Then, from a metal strip 10 mm thick and 100 mm wide, you need to cut a piece of a rectangular shape. Next, in this workpiece, three through holes must be drilled, after having previously made the marking.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the guides from the rods must be inserted into the holes drilled at the edges of the plate. They need to be welded to the plate, and the excess should be cut off with a grinder.

Then the master cuts a few more blanks from a strip of 100 mm and welds from them the second part of a joiner's vice. The weld seams must be cleaned with a flap circle.

Next, one edge of the threaded rod must be turned to the desired diameter. A hairpin is inserted into the hole in the center of the plate, on the other hand - a nut is put on, which must be welded to the hairpin.

After that, we fully assemble the entire structure, weld the missing elements and the home-made vice is ready. If necessary, you can color them.
