A felt circle for polishing metal can be made from felt boots and pieces of plywood. Moreover, a home-made felt circle is quite universal. It can be installed as an emery machine or on an angle grinder.
To begin with, the author cuts a square of the desired size from a sheet of plywood. Then he marks the center and drills a hole for the M8 bolt in it. And then you need to draw a circle, and with the help of a jigsaw cut out a round workpiece.
The edges of the workpiece must be sanded so that they are even. Then, you will need to cut another circle from plywood according to the ready-made template. Workpieces need to be glued together.
The main stages of work
After gluing, we additionally fasten the two blanks with screws. In the center, you need to drill a hole of a larger diameter so that you can put a circle on the motor shaft. The edges will need to be aligned on the grinder.
Next, the author puts on felt boots on a circle of plywood and cuts off all unnecessary with scissors. You will also need to cut a circle of suitable diameter from the felt boot, which is glued with superglue to one side of the round plywood blank.
The result is a simple do-it-yourself polishing wheel for polishing metal. You can, of course, buy a factory circle. However, if your dust boots are gathering dust in a corner, why not use them to good use?
