Wood cutters are carpentry fixtures that are needed to perform various woodwork. They can be used both for cutting figures or patterns, or just for getting rid of knots from logs.

These useful tools can be made independently from a car valve, especially since the cutters are excellent, with high quality, not inferior to factory analogues.

To make a pair of homemade wood cutters, you will need two automobile valves, a blacksmith anvil, a vice, a blacksmith forge (oven), a grinder, a grinder (grinder). Please note that cutters can be made both hot and cold.

The main stages of work

Each automobile valve is clamped in a vice so that it is convenient to cut off the half of the cap that is unnecessary at the workpiece. Then the master places the first part in the furnace for glowing metal, and processes the second without heating.

After the hot valve is placed on the anvil and beaten with a hammer to give the desired shape. You need to have time to do this while the metal is hot.

Next, the master grinds the details to the next step - preparing the profile. The hot valve is placed in any metal arcuate shape and beats off to give the desired profile bend. At the second valve, the cutting part is straight. "On the cold" to give it a concave shape will not work.

After the author forms the cutter itself and saws off the unnecessary parts. It prepares the interior to its ideal state and proceeds to sharpen the edge. The “tails” of the finished incisors must be inserted into the wooden octagonal handles of birch.

This manufacture of cutters is quick and convenient. It’s not difficult to do it yourself, and it will be useful for woodcarvers. For a detailed process of creating cutters from an automobile valve, see the video on the site.
