Using a homemade platform with rails designed for small angle grinders, it is very convenient to cut sheet metal (especially wide workpieces). The guides allow you to smoothly move the cutting disc back and forth.

Also, having fixed the angle grinder on a makeshift platform, you can also cut ordinary metal blanks: reinforcement, angles, stripes, square, etc. If you install a ceramic circle instead of a cutting disc, you can cut ceramic tiles.

The first step will be to make the foundation of the platform for the grinder. We cut out a piece of plywood of suitable sizes and glue to it the same piece of sheet metal. Moreover, the adhesive is preferably used two-component.

The main stages of work

After the metal has been glued to the plywood, we cut two pieces of steel pipes of different diameters, which will be used as guides. To fix them on the surface of the base of the platform, metal clamps are quite suitable.

To connect the guides at the other end, you will need a piece of the plate and two pieces of the corner. They will need to drill holes for mounting bolts. Holes of the same diameter must be drilled at the ends of the tubes. We also make a mount for the grinder itself.

At the last stage of work, we set the angle grinder on the "seat" and set the thrust bar. See the video on the website for the step-by-step process of making a home-made platform for a small angle grinder.
