Traditional Japanese tables made of wood are famous for their minimalism and versatility: they simultaneously perform two main functions: decorative (to decorate the interior) and dining. Their distinguishing feature is a low wooden frame covered with a large countertop.

The main stages of work

A solid piece of a tree trunk with a diameter of about 1.5 meters is used as a table top. It cannot be processed on machines, therefore, only manually with the help of a power tool. First of all, it is necessary to level the surface - for this it is better to use an electric planer.

Next, the surface must be sanded: first with a grinder with a nozzle for grinding, and then with a grinding machine. The edges of the countertops are processed by hand milling. After this, the surface of the wood along with the bark must be soaked with mineral oil.

Frame manufacturing

First of all, the legs of the table are made - for this, four bars of the required length are prepared, which need to be given a round shape by processing them on a lathe. Then, in the upper part of the legs, stepping back slightly from the edge, it is necessary to cut a longitudinal groove. At the next stage, two spars with a spike are made.

The ends of the boards are made semicircular - for a more snug fit to the legs. Then the tsars are inserted into the legs of the table and connected together crosswise. A countertop is laid on the prepared wooden frame. Mounts are not used in this case. The surface of the legs is also covered with mineral oil.
