If you caught the eye of an old piece of rail, do not pass by - it will make an excellent homemade product that will come in handy in the household. In this article we will tell you how to make a mini-anvil.

Such an anvil is not suitable for hot forging of metal, but it will cope perfectly with other tasks. First of all, the rail must be cleaned of dirt and rust. Then we measure from it 22 cm and cut it off with a grinder.

This process is not fast, so be patient. If possible, it is advisable to choose a piece of railway rail with holes in the middle. After that, we make the marking and cut off the excess with the grinder, giving the workpiece the shape of an anvil.

Again we take the grinder in our hands and begin to grind the surface of the mini-anvil, as they say, to a shine. Where it is not possible to crawl with a grinder, we use a file for metal. After finishing stripping and grinding, it will be necessary to drill holes in the sole of the rail for fastening in a stump - for four self-tapping screws.

Instead of self-tapping screws, it is better, of course, to use something more powerful. For example, for fastening a mini-anvil, the M10 or M12 anchor is perfect — it will certainly be more reliable with them, but self-tapping screws under the influence of constant dynamic loads will not last long.

If desired, you can paint with silver paint (except for the working surface - when painting it must be sealed with masking tape). How to make mini-anvils from a piece of rail, see the video on the site.
