Lying in the garage is an old jack that you have not been using for a long time? Do not just throw it in scrap metal, as some short-sighted car owners do. From the old jack you get a cool home-made pipe bender, which is useful in a private house or in the country.

With this tool, you can bend the most common steel pipes that are used at home: inch, ½ inch and three quarters. For the manufacture of a pipe bender, in addition to the jack, a profile pipe, a plate, a metal pancake from 45th steel and fasteners are required.

First of all, you need to clean the old jack with a sandblast or other accessible method, and then paint. Then, with a grinder, cut off the size of the workpiece from a rectangular profile pipe 40x20 mm. Next, we weld all the parts together.

The main stages of work

We take an old cutter - from it we will make a supporting element of the pipe bender. First, we drill a blind hole in the end and cut the thread. Then it will be necessary to drill a second hole. Naturally, this is best done on a drilling machine. But if it is not, you can do with a conventional drill.

At the next stage, we make a clamp from a piece of steel strip. In profiles, we drill through holes. Then we prepare the missing parts of the structure. For convenience, you can also place a scale (protractor) with a mark so that the pipes can be bent to a specific angle.
