If, when driving on rough terrain or off-road, you cut or punctured a car wheel in the side of the tire, and there is no spare wheel at hand and you are far from the village or the nearest car service, there is only one way out of this situation - to sew up.

As a means of "first aid" you will need to use special harnesses that are used for quick patching of tubeless wheels, soft knitting wire, as well as pliers. Well, then, as they say, it’s a matter of technology.

The main stages of work

First of all, you need to cut the knitting wire into short pieces, which must be inserted along the cut on both sides. If you have at hand a special kit that includes cord harnesses and an awl, it is best to use it. And if not, then the wheel will be reanimated only in such a "barbaric" way.
After you pierce the wire around the cut, you need to pull the ends of the steel bars out. Then you will need to twist together every two wires with pliers. The twist itself must be carefully wrapped inside the rubber tire.

After that we take the tourniquet, cut a piece to the size of the cut and press it into the wheel. And then we twist the remaining ends of the wire - then the twist should be pressed to the tire. Then you just have to pump up the wheel and get home or to the nearest car service.

To summarize

Perhaps for many drivers this is not the most practical option, but when there is no spare wheel at hand and you are stuck in the wilderness, you can imagine nothing more effective. The peculiarity of this method is that after such an “operation” you can easily reach the city, and you can even not remove the wheel from the car (if the cut is on the outside).
