Foamiran (foam, fom, plastic suede or just foam latex) is a novelty in the world of needlework, which allows you to easily create beautiful bouquets and hair accessories. Fom has acquired particular relevance for mothers of charming babies who want to create rubber bands and hairpins with their own hands. Oddly enough, the flowers with a large number of small petals - dandelions, asters, dahlias, chrysanthemums, are the simplest to manufacture.
The naturalness of a flower largely depends on the chosen color of foamiran and its tinting with paints or pastels.
Materials and tools.
Have you ever tried to glue rubber? Surely, for this you needed the “Moment” glue and considerable efforts. Foam is also a thin sheet of foam latex, which creates problems in work. The best way to fix it is hot glue. So, for work just need a glue gun and rods to it.
In addition, you will need:
  • Iron.
  • Two sheets of foamiran - white and green.
  • A tube of lemon-colored paint.
  • Scissors.
  • A pair of ladybugs on a sticky basis.
  • Elastic band, hairpin or bandage, at your discretion.
  • Synthetic brush.

Stages of work.
First of all, you should prepare strips of foam, 30-40 cm long, of different widths:
  • 2 pieces of 15 mm
  • One 20mm
  • 25 mm
  • 30 mm

We cut one of the strips with a width of 15 mm into a small fringe.

First, cut the second strip into 5 mm strips, and then make a “clove” from each of them.

Subsequent strips are cut similarly, but with an increase in the width of the "clove" by 2 mm.

Next, each of the prepared strips must be shaped. The sheets of foamiran are straight, like paper, the flowers, on the contrary, have curved and wavy petals. The material is attractive in that it easily lends itself to modeling and molding when heated. Consistently, we apply each of the strips to an iron heated in medium mode (cotton).

Do not be afraid - latex does not stick to the heated surface of the iron and leaves no residue on it. The thicker the fom, the more you will have to make an effort to bend the petals - thin, 1 mm thick is twisted itself, 2 mm - you need to stretch and bend.
Having prepared each of the strips, we proceed to the assembly of the flower.
For convenience, it is better to take a toothpick or wire around which you will twist the "petals". Before the very first turn, put a little glue on the beginning of the strip and squeeze it around the "axis". Gradually glue the first fringe strip in a circle: hot glue hardens very quickly, so you should not apply it more than 2 cm in length.

"Fringe" needs to be used completely, no matter how long your strip is, as a result you will get a flower similar to a chrysanthemum.

The following strips, except the last, the widest, are glued in one row.

The final strip is glued completely and the longer its length, the more magnificent the dahlia will turn out.

But each flower, except for a luxurious bud, also has foliage, which we will make of a green leaf.

We also apply leaflets to the iron, we form and put a drawing on them with folded scissors or a toothpick. We glue the back of the flower in a circle cut out of foam, similar in size to the bottom of the flower.

Then glue and leaflets.

Toning.
You can tint foamiran in various ways, the most accessible of which is the “dry brush” technique. A small amount of paint, acrylic or oil, is applied to a piece of paper. A dry brush is dipped into it, which then should be thoroughly cleaned of excess on paper and only then proceed to tinting the petals.

Glue a pair of ladybugs to the petals, and a hairpin or elastic band on the back. A chic accessory for a little princess or graduation party is ready.
