Did the handle on the kitchen knife break? No problem! In this review we will tell and show how to make a simple wooden handle with our own hands. There is nothing complicated here, and even a minimal set of tools can be dispensed with.

On the old knife, the handle was laid on (consisted of two halves connected by rivets). However, in this case, the author decided to make a horseman mounting the handle. The handle will be solid, and therefore more resistant to mechanical damage.

First of all, the author removes rivets from the shank of the knife. First cuts one edge of the rivets with a grinder (angle grinder), and then knocks the remaining parts out of the holes.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the author cuts a draft form of a knife handle from a wooden block of a suitable size, then makes a slot under it for the shank. You will also need to drill holes for rivets.

Next, it will be necessary to glue the shank of the knife into the wooden handle on epoxy or other glue. As a temporary fixation, the author uses screws that are inserted into drilled holes.

After the glue has dried, the screws must be removed. Next, the author fixes the knife with a clamp and processes the handle with an angle grinder.

Then it remains only to put new rivets, finish polishing and cover the handle with mineral oil or colorless varnish - at your discretion.
